Classroom layout
- Every classroom will need a smart board to incorporate technology as much as they need and a regular whiteboard for those days when our students need an extra explanation.
• A group classroom is a must for me as a teacher because I love group work. Although, these tables can be converted into individual desk to work on individual time as well.
• Rules, rewards and consequences need to be on the wall to remind our students what to expect good or bad.
• Need plenty of shelves to have everything organize and to find supplies in the same place when they are needed.
• Bulletin board is necessary to provide the must resent messages for our students success.
• Windows, we all need fresh air. If there is none.. I will draw them and place a peaceful image because we need a place to rest our mind and imagination.
• My desk, the place to keep my computer, my prepared work and the tools necessary to start a strong day.
RATIONALE STATEMENT #6 Learning Environment
Priscilla Gould
Professor Purvin
Education Field Experience EDUC 230-02
Spring 2012
Rationale Statement
Statement of Standard Six- Learning Environment
“Teachers shall understand individual and group motivation and behavior and shall create a supportive, safe and respectful learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation ”. (NJPTSB, 2004, pg 14 )
Name of Artifact: Classroom Rules and Layout
Date of Artifact: April-2013
Course: Education Field Experience EDUC 230-02
Rationale Statement:
For this artifact I had to create a list for a classroom rules and a accompanying rewards and consequences. Secondly, I designed an ideal layout for my classroom. I loved the idea of creating this for my own classroom because it gave the freedom to use my imagination to accomplish my desire goals for my students. It is extremely important for me to have a room that provides group time as well as individual work time, therefore, I created the room with sits and circle table that can be converted into individual sits when that time is needed as well. I also understand that as much fun and great time we will have in my class there will be rules to follow and consequences set with the expectations I have for every single student that does not follow them.
While creating this artifact I really recognized the importance of organization with a mind set goal. Every single detail a teacher brings into a classroom has to be there with the purpose of education and development of her or his students. The integration of technology as part of the classroom is extremely important when we live in a world that is growing so fast, and we see that our students are able to learn and taking advantage from it.
I believe creating this project with basic concepts or rules and layouts for my classroom will help me in the future because it has provided me the experience of what teachers need to keep in mind prior to start a strong year as well as maintaining control during the classroom hours. Rules and consequences was a challenge because as much as we want to be strict we need to remember that caring and understanding comes along with discipline. Also rewards thought me that there are many ways to show our appreciation and recognitions to students without giving food or tangibles that could be misinterpreted or could damage the intentions of rewarding students. I hope I will be able to use my experience and knowledge in the future to help my students have an active engagement in learning and self-motivation environment just like the rationale statement number six ask us to do it.
